When you work, you definitely need to prioritize family first.

Leslie Fremar

Celebrity Stylist

Leslie Fremar got her start in fashion working at Vogue as editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s assistant. Today, she’s one of the most powerful stylists in Hollywood, with a client list that includes Julianne Moore and Charlize Theron.

A major challenge I’ve faced was believing in myself enough to go freelance.

The books that have had the biggest impact on me are a lot of photography books. I use them as references every day. I don’t think I can pick one. A lot of Helmut Newton books, Avedon books. I like them all the time.

In my personal life my sister is extremely encouraging and believes in me wholeheartedly. In my work life, I have lots of inspirations. I am fortunate enough to work with lots of incredible women, who keep me engaged and inspired throughout my career. I definitely have lots of women in my life that are inspiring.

I maintain balance in my life by making my children a priority, for sure. When you work, you definitely need to prioritize family first.

I unwind by getting a massage — always. I love it. And I do yoga.

My approach to styling is going with your gut. I try very hard not to doubt my instincts.

The best way to handle a setback is to go through it. You can’t go over it, or under it.

The secret to great style is knowing who you are and wearing what reflects your personality.

The one thing I would like to say to every woman in the world is don’t worry about what other women think of you. Just worry about what you think of you.
