Small moments often make the biggest impact. This is a truth every New Yorker knows. Taking a cab instead of the subway. A chance encounter with an old friend. Sitting in Central Park in the middle of a sunny workday. There is beauty in the mundane. Reverence in routine.
Directed by Jim Goldberg and starring Diana Silvers and Marcos Fecchino, Moments, Made by NYC is a celebration of these casual forms of luxury and the hidden processes it takes to make them happen.
The film follows two characters living parallel lives on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Through a series of vignettes, we watch them move through the city and the many modes of being it demands, with deep appreciation for its minutiae.
They each live in the moment, but with an awareness that everything they experience is the result of countless other actions, intentions, decisions, missed connections, and more.
As we watch, we wonder how and when they’ll meet—only to realize they’ve known each other all along. When all the hard work pays off, and what’s left appears effortless: Of course this would happen, right here, right now.
But much like a perfectly tailored suit, the perfect New York moment, is no accident.
