Containing some 240 illustrations, this hardback edition of California Captured: Mid-Century Modern Architecture, Marvin Rand, published by Phaidon and written by Emily Bills, Sam Lubell, and Pierluigi Serraino, explores the style and mythology of mid-century modern California as seen through the eyes of Marvin Rand. Los Angeles-born Rand was one of the twentieth century’s pre-eminent architectural photographers, with an eye so precise that he was recognized by the American Institute of Architects and made an honorary member. Rand’s five-decade career was centered on the mid-century modernism of his native California—the same style that inspired Theory’s Creative Director of Menswear, Martin Andersson, in his design of the Pre-Fall 2018 collection. Like Rand, Martin combines a graphic sensibility with an appreciation for line and form. Theory is pleased to partner with Phaidon to showcase the work of this West Coast master at its Meatpacking and Melrose flagship stores through June. Book size: 290 x 250 mm (11 3/8 x 9 7/8 in). 240pp.
