Day in the Life

The beats of a day are familiar: Rise, get dressed, eat, work, and relax. But Theory muse Deon Hinton finds a rhythm within the thrumming pace, a slow sort of peace in practice. As New York rushes around him, the photographer, art director, and curator remains steadfast.
Clean Lines
Deon Hinton wears Moonsoft Cotton Button-Up Jacket in Oat Milk ($365), Relay Jersey Ryder Tee in Silver Stone ($125), and Moonsoft Cotton Zaine Pant in Classic Brown ($225) by Theory.
The Apartment
An early riser, Hinton moves slowly through his sunny Park Slope apartment. He sips hojicha and basks in the morning sun. He is already dressed in white pants, a blue button-down, and a sweater layered over the top, all from Theory; his style is Afrocentric and rooted in a love of tailoring along with neutrals and warm tones. His closet, unlike that of most New Yorkers, is a space of tranquility. “It allows for the nuance of texture,” the creative explains. “For the structured garments to speak for themselves.”
True Blue
Deon wears Regal Wool Crewneck Sweater in Dusk Blue ($225), Structure Knit Sylvain Shirt in Light Dusk Blue ($195), and Moonsoft Cotton Straight Chino Pant in Oatmilk ($225) by Theory.
Eat Local
For lunch, Hinton heads to Che in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood. “The environment is warm and welcoming. The food is also immaculate,” he says of the vegetable-forward café. He sits up front at the restaurant’s expansive windows, his cream-hued Theory jacket matching the clouds overhead. His look is professional, but he wears it with an ease and casualness in such a low-key environment.
Opposites Attract
Deon wears Moonsoft Cotton Button-Up Jacket in Oat Milk ($365), Cotton Jersey Precise Tee in Silver Stone ($75), and Moonsoft Cotton Zaine Pant in Classic Brown ($225) by Theory.
Special Space
In the afternoon, Hinton arrives at Tage Gallery, which he co-founded in 2025. The Bed-Stuy space is home to his photo studio and vintage furniture showroom. Skylights cast crepuscular rays of light into the warm, woody room. Here, Hinton is dressed in a soft, classic outfit. “There is a form of ceremony in wearing white,” he explains. “A carefulness that has to be had. This Theory white shirt has such an ease to it.” Like a blank canvas, the look serves as a !rst step. A backdrop for ideas in the place where he hones his creativity.
